The Black Lives Matter movement has inspired the Black Lives Matter Art Show, curated by Carla Cubit of Occupy Art and beginning on Aug. 5, 2016. It includes mixed media assemblage pieces, plus photos and posters.
M. Ward, a folk and blues-inspired singer/songwriter who is a member of pop duo She & Him with Zooey Deschanel, is performing with Margaret Glaspy at Lincoln Center Out of Doors on Friday, Aug. 5.
Starting at 7 AM on Saturday, Aug. 6, take to the streets for Summer Streets 2016. Nearly seven miles of sttreets — from the Brooklyn Bridge, up Park Avenue, through the Park Avenue Tunnel, up to 72nd Street — is open to pedestrians and bicyclists. Expect a lineup of fun, free activities, including concerts, crafts, exercise classes, jugglers and a zip line at 53rd Street. Summer Streets continues on Aug. 13 and Aug. 20.
